Reading Stock Charts
Price charts (for stocks, crypto, and other assets) visually display price movements over time. Learning to read them helps you spot trends and make informed decisions.
Chart Types
- Line Chart - Simple line connecting closing prices
- Candlestick - Most popular; shows open, high, low, close (OHLC) with color coding
Reading Candlesticks
- Green candle: Price closed higher than it opened (bullish)
- Red candle: Price closed lower than it opened (bearish)
- Body: The thick part showing open-to-close range
- Wicks/Shadows: Thin lines showing high and low
Time Frames
- 1-minute to 1-hour: Day trading
- Daily: Swing trading
- Weekly/Monthly: Long-term investing
Key Patterns
- Uptrend: Higher highs and higher lows
- Downtrend: Lower highs and lower lows
- Support: Price level where buying increases
- Resistance: Price level where selling increases
