Is options trading available?

Updated - Editorial policy

Yes. Trading Game includes a simulated options trading section, so you can practise buying calls and puts with virtual money and see how option prices react to the market, without risking anything real.

Where to find options

Options have their own section in the app, separate from the regular Buy and Sell trading screen. Open the Trade area, choose the Options section, and pick the asset you want to practise on.

How a simulated options trade works

  1. Choose an underlying asset, for example a stock or an index.
  2. Pick a call (you expect the price to rise) or a put (you expect the price to fall).
  3. Choose a strike price and an expiry.
  4. Set how much virtual money to use and confirm the trade.
  5. Follow the position in your portfolio and close it whenever you like, or let it run to expiry.

Learn the basics first

Options move differently from the underlying asset: time to expiry and volatility matter as much as direction. If you are new to them, the Trading Academy has lessons on how calls, puts, strike prices and expiries work, and the Pattern Trainer helps you practise reading the charts you will trade on.

Is it free?

Options trading is available to every user, on the free plan as well as Pro.

Note: Trading Game is a paper trading simulator. All options trades use virtual money, and no real money is involved.
